Varcoe Road
A site in Bermondsey, south London, has been redeveloped to provide six new flats. The site faces two perpendicular streets and the development has been designed as two distinct buildings around a courtyard so that each building addresses each street separately.
The two gable ended buildings are connected by a central stair tower with bridges providing access to the flat front doors. A central courtyard provides the entrance to the development
as well as private and communal amenity space for residents. The courtyard provides a
sense of community and security and the development is now a welcome part of the streetscape which has made a positive contribution to the streetscape and local area.
